Mercy That Finds Us
Scripture
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved — Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV
Devotional
Every believer has a “but God” story.
Without the mercy of God, none of us would have hope. We may remember seasons when we felt too far gone, too broken, too guilty, or too unworthy to be forgiven. But the blood of Jesus reaches into the deepest places of sin, shame, and desperation.
Mercy does not mean God ignores sin. Mercy means Jesus paid the price for it. Because of Calvary, the condemned can be forgiven, the lost can be found, the broken can be restored, and the hopeless can live again.
The Christian life begins with mercy, and it continues by mercy. Even after years of following Jesus, we still need His grace to lead us, correct us, strengthen us, and keep us.
You are not beyond His reach. Your family is not beyond His reach. Your situation is not beyond His reach. Mercy still speaks louder than shame.
Reflection
Where have you experienced the mercy of God in your life?
Are you still carrying shame Jesus already paid for?
Take time today to thank God specifically for what He has rescued you from.
