Clothed with Power
Scripture
"And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” — Luke 24:49 ESV
Devotional
Human strength has limits. Determination may get us started, but it cannot sustain us through every battle. Positive thinking may encourage us for a moment, but it cannot overcome the powers of darkness. We need the power of God.
Jesus told His disciples to wait until they were clothed with power from on high. They had walked with Him, heard His teaching, seen His miracles, and still they needed the power of the Holy Spirit.
The same is true for us. We need more than religious routine. We need the living power of God working in us—power to resist temptation, power to forgive, power to endure, power to witness, power to change.
The storm may be stronger than you, but it is not stronger than the Spirit of God.
Reflection
Are you trying to face spiritual battles in your own strength?
Where do you need the power of the Holy Spirit today?
Pray: “Holy Spirit, fill me, strengthen me, and clothe me with power from on high.”
