Clean Up the Loose Ends

Scripture

“So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” — 1 Peter 1:13 NLT

Devotional

Before a physical storm, people secure what could be blown away. They tie things down, bring things inside, and prepare what is vulnerable. Spiritually, we must do the same.

There are “loose ends” in life that can become dangerous during a storm—unchecked habits, hidden compromises, unresolved bitterness, neglected prayer, unhealthy relationships, distractions that dull our hunger for God. Not everything that weakens us looks obviously sinful at first. Some things simply do not strengthen our walk with Christ.

God calls us to prepare our minds for action. That means living alert, disciplined, and surrendered. It means asking Him to show us what needs to be brought under His authority.

Preparation is not paranoia. It is wisdom.

Reflection

What “loose ends” in your life need to be surrendered to God?
Are there distractions or habits that are weakening your spiritual focus?
Pray: “Lord, show me what needs to be cleaned up, and give me grace to obey.”
