Don’t Just Hear—Obey

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” — James 1:22 ESV

It is possible to hear truth and still remain unchanged. We can listen to sermons, read Scripture, agree with godly wisdom, and still not apply it. But when storms come, information alone will not hold us steady. Obedience will.
God’s Word is not merely meant to be admired; it is meant to be lived. Hearing gives us direction, but doing builds endurance. The person who obeys God’s Word is like the one Jesus described who built his house on the rock. The rain came, the floods rose, and the winds blew—but the house stood.
If you want to be ready for the storm, begin with obedience today. Not someday. Not when life gets easier. Today.
