Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
Scripture
“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.” - 1 John 4:18-19 NLT
Devotion
Dr. Tatum reminded us that God deals with us in love, not torment. His love is not weak or shallow; it is perfect. It casts fear out of the places where fear has tried to settle in.
The greatest proof of God’s love is Jesus. Even when the world was lost in sin and darkness, God loved enough to give His only begotten Son. Because of that love, we do not have to live as people ruled by fear. We can live as people who are deeply loved, fully known, and eternally held by God.
Reflection
Where do you need God’s perfect love to cast out fear in your life? Take a moment to thank Him for loving you first.
