Ready for the Seed
Scripture
“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.” - Hosea 10:12 ESV
Devotion
Pastor Darren opened with a prayer asking God to ready our hearts and minds—to chip away at hard edges and leave us tilled, cultivated, and ready for the seed of the Word.
That is where every work of God begins: in prepared soil.
Sometimes our hearts become hardened by disappointment, routine, pain, pride, or exhaustion. We may still attend church, sing songs, serve, and pray—but underneath, parts of us can become resistant. God does not shame us for having hard places. Instead, He lovingly tills them.
Before Abraham ever saw the ram in the thicket, he had already cultivated a life of listening. His heart was prepared through years of walking with God, waiting on promises, and learning obedience.
Today, ask God to make your heart soft again. Not emotional only—available. Willing. Ready.

Are there hard places in your heart that need to be broken up before God?
What would it look like today to become “tilled” and ready for His Word?
Pray: “Lord, prepare my heart to receive what You want to plant in me.”
