Start With the People

Scripture

“I asked them about the Jews… and about how things were going in Jerusalem.” — Nehemiah 1:2 NLT

Devotion

Before Nehemiah asked about walls, gates, resources, or strategy, he asked about the people. Pastor Darren pointed out that Nehemiah had a heart for people before he ever had a plan for a project.

Kingdom building never begins with structures. It begins with compassion. God is not just building programs, services, ministries, or schedules. He is building people.

If we want to be part of what God is doing, we must care about the condition of those around us. Who is hurting? Who is weary? Who is isolated? Who needs prayer? Who needs someone to notice?

A builder in God’s kingdom does not just see what is broken; they see who is broken.

Reflection

  • Who around you may be in distress or discouragement?
  • Have you been more focused on tasks than people?
  • Reach out to one person today and ask, “How are you really doing?”
