The Fruit of the Spirit: Your New Evidence
Scripture:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
– Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV)
Devotion:
After listing the works of the flesh, Paul contrasts them with the fruit of the Spirit—what the Spirit produces in a holy, surrendered life. Pastor Darren sees “fruit upon fruit upon fruit” in the room when he looks at God’s people: low-hanging fruit that simply needs cultivation.
Notice: it is “fruit of the Spirit,” not “fruit of hard religious effort.” These qualities come from the Spirit’s life within you, not from you gritting your teeth. But that doesn’t mean you’re passive. Your part is to stay yielded, rooted, and obedient.
Pastor Darren said that when he truly gave his life to the Lord, the first thing that began to grow in him was love and compassion for people he once despised. That is evidence of the Spirit’s work—a holy life from the inside out.
Your life is meant to be an orchard others can walk through and “taste and see that the Lord is good” by how you live, react, and love. Holiness doesn’t just avoid sin; it displays the character of Jesus.
Reflection:
1. Which fruit of the Spirit do you see God already growing in you? Where are you still very weak?
2. Who around you needs to “taste” more of Christ’s character through your life right now?
3. Pray: “Holy Spirit, grow Your fruit in me. I yield my attitudes and reactions to You. Make my life a place where others can taste Your goodness.”
