Walking in Freedom, Still Being Sanctified
Scripture
“For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”
— Hebrews 10:14 (NASB)
Devotion
Pastor Darren celebrated that almost ten years have passed since Jesus broke those visible chains in his life—and yet he was honest: God is still sanctifying him. He talked about his temper, frustrations, and other things God is still dealing with.
This verse holds a tension:
In Christ, your status is “perfected”—justified, accepted, declared righteous. But your daily life is in process—“being sanctified.” Holiness, then, is not a one-time achievement; it’s a lifelong journey where God keeps going deeper, layer after layer.
The enemy will use your imperfections in two ways:
The Holy Spirit does something different. He convicts with hope: “This can change. Let Me help you.” Pastor Darren’s story of freedom from one area should give you hope; his honesty about ongoing struggles should give you patience—with yourself and others.
You are not done yet, but you’re not who you used to be. Keep walking.
Reflection

Devotion
Pastor Darren celebrated that almost ten years have passed since Jesus broke those visible chains in his life—and yet he was honest: God is still sanctifying him. He talked about his temper, frustrations, and other things God is still dealing with.
This verse holds a tension:
- “He has perfected for all time…” (already done in Christ)
- “…those who are being sanctified.” (still happening)
In Christ, your status is “perfected”—justified, accepted, declared righteous. But your daily life is in process—“being sanctified.” Holiness, then, is not a one-time achievement; it’s a lifelong journey where God keeps going deeper, layer after layer.
The enemy will use your imperfections in two ways:
- To condemn you: “You’ll never change. Why try?”
- To excuse you: “Nobody’s perfect. Don’t worry about it.”
Reflection
- Looking back 1–5 years, where do you see clear evidence that God has been sanctifying you?
- Where do you most need to cooperate with Him right now—anger, lust, language, substances, devices, pride, bitterness?
- Pray: “Jesus, thank You that I am perfected in You, even as I’m being sanctified. I surrender this specific area ______ to Your ongoing work.”
