The Power That Raised Christ
Scripture
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.”
— Ephesians 1:19–20 (NLT)
Devotion
This passage from Ephesians was used to confront a lie: that we are helpless victims of fear and old patterns.
Paul prays that believers would understand something huge:
That means:
Pastor said, “The power is already inside you to conquer it all.” The issue is usually access, not availability.
We don’t access God’s power because we:
God’s power isn’t a feeling you chase; it’s a reality you stand in. You access it through faith, obedience, and surrender. You choose to act as if His Word is more real than your fear.
A sound mind is not built on self-help—it’s built on resurrection power applied to your thought life, choices, and identity.
Reflection
1. Name one area where you often say or think, “I just can’t change.”
2. Confront that with Ephesians 1:19–20.
Rewrite that thought as:
“In my own strength I can’t change ____, but the same power that raised Christ lives in me and is at work in this area.”
3. Pray: “Lord, open the eyes of my heart to truly understand and trust the power You’ve placed in me. Show me one step of obedience today that agrees with Your power instead of my excuses.”

This passage from Ephesians was used to confront a lie: that we are helpless victims of fear and old patterns.
Paul prays that believers would understand something huge:
- The same power that raised Jesus from the dead
- Is for us who believe
- And is at work in us, the church, His body
That means:
- You are not powerless against fear.
- You are not powerless against addiction.
- You are not powerless against tormenting thoughts.
Pastor said, “The power is already inside you to conquer it all.” The issue is usually access, not availability.
We don’t access God’s power because we:
- Refuse to surrender.
- Resist obedience.
- Avoid the Word and prayer.
- Keep one foot in the old life.
God’s power isn’t a feeling you chase; it’s a reality you stand in. You access it through faith, obedience, and surrender. You choose to act as if His Word is more real than your fear.
