No Drama, Just Burden-Bearing

Scripture

“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
— Galatians 6:2 (ESV)

Devotion

This week Pastor Darren drew a strong line: “Drama has no home here.” Not in the services, not in the parking lot, not during the week.

Drama thrives on gossip, assumptions, and talking about people instead of to them. It disguises itself as “concern” but often works against the very thing God is trying to build: unity, trust, and a place where broken people can heal.

Biblical community looks very different:
  • We encourage one another and build each other up.
  • We bear one another’s burdens through prayer, presence, and practical help—not by circulating other people’s pain.

To “bear a burden” does not mean sharing someone’s struggle as a story for entertainment or curiosity. It means:
  • Bringing their name before God in prayer.
  • Checking on them.
  • Helping in tangible ways when you can.

If we will be “bridge builders” for the hurting and lost, our churches and homes must be safe places, not rumor mills.

Reflection

  • How do you typically respond when you hear about someone else’s failure, pain, or mess?
  • Is there anyone whose burden you need to truly bear—in prayer, in encouragement, in practical help?
  • Ask the Lord:
    • “Show me where I’ve participated in drama instead of intercession.”
    • “Give me someone specific to encourage or support this week, quietly and sincerely.”
