Speaking to the Mountain: Faith in Your Voice

Scripture

“And He *said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. ”
— Matthew 17:20 (NASB)

Devotion

The disciples asked Jesus why they couldn’t cast out a demon. His answer exposed not a lack of volume, but a lack of faith.

Pastor Darren put it plainly: Maybe your mountain isn’t moving because you have no faith in your voice—no confidence that God has given you authority in Christ.

Biblically, your voice, aligned with God’s Word and spoken in faith, carries spiritual authority.

This isn’t “name it, claim it” hype; it’s the reality that:
  • You are a child of God (John 1:12).
  • You have authority over the enemy in Jesus’ name (Luke 10:19).
  • You are invited to resist the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7).

There are times in your life when silent resignation won’t do. You must speak to the mountain.

You must say out loud:
  • “Enemy, you have no place in my mind, my home, or my body.”
  • “Fear, you are not my master.”
  • “In Jesus’ name, I stand on God’s promises, not my feelings.”

Faith isn’t just silently believing. Sometimes, faith must speak.

Reflection

  • What “mountain” (habit, fear, attack, situation) is standing in front of you right now?
  • Have you been passively enduring it instead of actively speaking God’s truth over it?
  • Today, write a short prayer speaking directly to that mountain in Jesus’ name. Then pray it out loud, even if you feel awkward. Do it in faith, not emotion.
