The Call to Change
Scripture
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NASB)
“[A]nd My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Devotion
God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is both comforting and confronting. It is not a passive promise; it is conditional. God says if His people will humble themselves, if they will pray, if they will seek His face, and if they will turn from their wicked ways—then He will respond with forgiveness and healing.
We often want God to change our circumstances without changing us. We want healing without repentance, blessing without surrender, comfort without consecration. But this verse shows that lasting change begins with God’s people—with us—not with the world “out there.”
Our call to fasting and “detoxification” from the world is really a call to obey this verse. Fasting is one way to humble ourselves, to seek His face, and to turn away from the things that clog our hearts and dull our spirits. God is ready to move—but He is waiting for His people to respond.
Reflection
Prayer
Lord, I hear Your call to change. I don’t want to just talk about revival; I want to live in obedience. Show me where pride, compromise, or sin have taken root in my life. Give me the courage to humble myself, to pray with sincerity, to seek Your face, and to turn from my wicked ways. Heal my heart, my home, and my land as I respond to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection
- Where is God asking you to humble yourself today?
- What specific “wicked way” or pattern do you need to turn from—not just feel bad about, but actually change?
- How might fasting (from food, media, habits, etc.) help you seek His face more intentionally?
