Meeting Jesus at the Well

Scripture

“A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, ‘Give Me a drink.’”
— John 4:7 (NKJV)

Devotion

The Samaritan woman went to the well for ordinary water at an ordinary time. She was just “doing her day.” But Jesus had gone out of His way to meet her there. By every cultural and religious standard, He should have avoided her—wrong gender, wrong ethnicity, wrong reputation. Yet He met her precisely where she was.

Pastor Darren reminded us: Jesus broke tradition, shattered legalism, and ignored man-made rules to reach her. He does the same for you. He’s not waiting for you to clean yourself up or fix your reputation before He will speak to you. He meets you in the middle of your real life—your shame, your confusion, your sin, and your thirst.

Just like her, you may struggle to believe He really wants to deal with you. But He does. And He has living water for your dry soul.

Reflection

  • If you’re honest, where are you “showing up” today—tired, ashamed, numb, performing, pretending?
  • In what ways do you secretly think Jesus shouldn’t want to be close to someone like you?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for meeting me where I really am, not where I pretend to be. Thank You for crossing every barrier—my sin, my shame, my past—to meet me at my “well.” I open my heart to You. Speak to me, change me, and give me the living water only You can give. In Your name, amen.
