Strength for the Weary

Scripture

“He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.”
– Isaiah 40:29 (NASB)

Devotion

Pastor Darren asked a pointed question: “Do I have any weary warriors in the building?” Many of us are there—tired of fighting the same battles, worn down by life, by news, by family issues, by our own failures. Weariness can make you feel like you’ve lost traction with God and with life.

But God doesn’t shame the weary. He supplies them. He gives strength to the weary and increases power to those who have none left. When you’ve hit that place where you say, “I’m drained dry; I’ve got nothing left,” that’s not where God walks away. That’s where He steps in.

Notice the order: He doesn’t say, “Get yourself together, then I’ll strengthen you.” He meets you in the exhaustion. The key is to bring your weariness to Him instead of just trying to gut it out alone—or stalling in self-pity, fear, or frustration.

Your emptiness is not the end of the story. It can be the beginning of a fresh infilling.

Reflection

  • Where are you most weary right now (physically, emotionally, spiritually)?
  • Do you usually hide your weariness from God, from others, or even from yourself? Why?
  • What would it look like to invite God into your tired places instead of pushing Him away?

Prayer

Father, I am tired. You see the parts of me that feel worn out and drained. Instead of pretending to be strong, I choose to bring my weakness to You. Increase my power where I have no might. Renew my strength where I am weary. Help me trust that You are not disappointed in my weakness but ready to meet me there. In Jesus’ name, amen.
