The Presence of Joy
Scripture
Luke 2:10-11 (NLT) "But the angel reassured them. 'Don’t be afraid!' he said. 'I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!'"
Devotion
The announcement of Jesus' birth came with a promise—great joy for all people. Often, we look for joy in temporary, earthly pleasures. However, the joy that comes from the birth of Christ is eternal and surpasses all earthly understanding. Let's set our hearts on remembering the gift of Jesus, the source of true and lasting joy.
Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on ways you've sought joy from temporary things. How can you refocus your heart on the eternal joy that Jesus brings?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to bring us everlasting joy. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus, especially during times of difficulty and distraction. May Your joy be my strength today and always. Amen.
