The Call to Be "The One"

The Call to Be "The One"

Scripture

Genesis 25:31-33 NLT - “All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.” “Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?” But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob.

Devotion

In Genesis 25, we encounter Esau and Jacob's story. Esau traded his birthright for a mere bowl of stew. This illustrates how easily we can be tempted to forgo our divine calling for momentary pleasures. We are called to be "the one" who stands firm in faith, devoted to living out our unique purpose in Christ.

Reflection

Reflect on your role in your family, community, and generation. Are you living out your calling, or are you tempted to trade it for the temporary pleasures of the world?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, empower me to stand firm in my faith and embrace my role as Your devoted child. Help me resist temporary temptations for the joy of fulfilling Your will in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
